Fantastic fitting of a Hornet SCA 60 wind turbine in Australia by Jesse D Tasker.

Hi Les I recieved the wind turbine last week in good order.  It is now sitting on top of a 17.5 m tower with 8 guy wires and 2 metric tone of concrete holding it in place.  I managed to pick up 16 mm square welding cable at 6 dollars a meter.  The tower cost about 800 dollars between the steel cable and welding cable.  I erected the tower first and ancored all the guy wires in place then I lowered the tower down again only had to remove 2 guy wires then mounted the turbine and reerected the tower.  Open circuit voltage as soon the turbine started went up to 50 volts but need to wait for higher winds.  Looks impressive when running very quite operation.  And yes the blades are sharp I kicked one with my toe when I had it on the floor inside the house.  If anyone wants ideas about tower building from you this may be a nice site to directe them to. http://www.otherpower.com/towers.html The only thing it didn't mention is how to work out the length of your guy wires.  How I did it was using a squared plus b squared equals c squared.  a distance from ancor point to base of tower and b tower height.  Great on a level site but mine is a hilly site so I just got my extra or less cable length by taking levels.  I added a extra 500 mm for error one each but it gave me a reasonable aprox.  I used a boat winch with a 1 to 10 ratio for raising.  If you are interested I can send photos for your site.   May have more buisness for you in the future if I can create more interest here in Australia.  Regards Jesse Tasker
